May a group of people gather to teach and/or study the scriptures outside the meetinghouse. (Acts 17:22-31) 2. May a group of people concurrently teach and/or study the scriptures apart from a congregational meeting or setting. (Acts 18:24-26) The issue is: Does the New Testament provide authority for a human society/organization/institution to provide, organize, or determine that a group of people may gather in order to engage in religious activities such as teaching the gospel and/or worshiping God as a part of the work of the human society, organization, or institution? The New Testament teaches that the society, organization, or institution that has the right to engage in, organize, or determine that a group of people may gather in order to engage in religious activities or work is the local congregation. (Acts 15:22-35) |
